Abstract:A self-consistent parallel plane (SCPP) model has been developed for fitting nonlinear Fowler-Nordheim (FN) plots of field emission strips. The saturation behavior of field emission strips is investigated by using a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation. The field emission process is described quantum mechanically by the Fowler-Nordheim equation. Space-charge effects are automatically included in the FDTD PIC simulations. The simulation results have confirmed that the saturatio… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
