“…The flowering time of S. ahmadii occurred later than the other studied species and thus its heat production occurred two to three hours later with a prolonged second heat production up to 4.5 hours. All investigated aroid taxa ( Aglaonema, Alocasia, Anadendrum, Homalomena , and Phymatarum ) in the region (Sarawak) are diurnal flowering plants with the anthesis beginning as early as 0400 h; only a few species flowered later in the day (Chai & Wong 2019, Low et al 2014, 2016), such as Schismatoglottis pellucida S.Y.Wong, P,C.Boyce and S.K.Chai and Bucephalandra muluensis (M.Hotta) S.Y.Wong & P.C.Boyce, flowering around mid‐morning and noon, respectively. The delay in the flowering might be related to the pollen vector competition among Schismatoglottideae taxa (one of the taxonomically most diverse and species‐rich aroid tribes in Borneo; Boyce et al 2010, Low et al 2018).…”

“…Kunth and A. variabilis Bl. are considered specialists, pollinated by a single beetle species (van der Pijl 1937;Sivadasan and Sabu 1989;Beath 1996;Punekar and Kumaran 2010;Chai and Wong 2019).…”

“…Thrips were also listed as pollinators for D. griffithii (Lee et al 2002). Thrips are important pollinators in other tropical plant families (Heckenhauer et al 2018;Chai and Wong 2019).…”
