Flatland Nanophotonics: A Study of Quantum-Confined Excitons in 2D Materials

Abstract: Let us begin our journey by revisiting some of the history and fundamental properties of flatland materials-materials that are two-dimensional. In this chapter we will introduce the different types of two dimensional (2D) materials that we have studied in this work. We will also discuss some of the techniques of preparation and identification of these materials. Finally, a brief overview of the thesis will be presented.
