Flexible and Superhydrophobic Silver Nanoparticles Decorated Aligned Silver Nanowires Films as Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Substrates

Abstract: Flexible and superhydrophobic silver nanoparticles decorated aligned silver nanowires (AgNWs@AgNPs) films were employed as efficient surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates to investigate the SERS properties of the Rhodamine B (RB). Aligned silver nanowires were fabricated via interface self-assembly technique and incorporated into shape memory polyurethane (SMPU) by hot-press method, which not only endow the composites with ordered array characteristics but also flexibility due to the presence of … Show more

“…The characteristic peaks of 4-ATP, 1-NAT, and RB were clearly observed in the SERS spectra of the samples containing the Au NBPs (Figure a and Figure S21). They are in good agreement with those in previous studies. The integrated SERS peak intensities were calculated for the Raman peaks at 1136 cm –1 for 4-ATP, 1368 cm –1 for 1-NAT, and 1355 cm –1 for RB (Figure b). The Raman signals on NBP/end-ZIF are at least twice as strong as those on the Au NBPs for the target molecules.…”

“…43 It is precisely because of the strong adsorption relationship between Ag and −SH that thiol compounds are the best choice for silver surface modifiers. 44 Meanwhile, the terminal functional groups of the organic matter adsorbed on the surface will give new functions to the silver nanoparticles. Researchers in the past used γ c as an extremely important empirical constant reflecting the wettability of solid surfaces with low surface energy.…”

“…Thiols possess the characteristic functional group sulfhydryl (−SH), which can spontaneously form covalent bonds with Ag such that thiol organic groups can be grafted on the surface of silver nanoparticles, and the molecular ends of the thiols will functionalize the silver nanoparticles. In addition, Ag–SH has the best adsorption properties when Ag reacts with different organics . It is precisely because of the strong adsorption relationship between Ag and −SH that thiol compounds are the best choice for silver surface modifiers . Meanwhile, the terminal functional groups of the organic matter adsorbed on the surface will give new functions to the silver nanoparticles.…”

“…As a kind of low-surface-energy material, PFDT could be applied to acquire a hydrophobic surface [22]. In this experiment, the CFP@PDA@AuNPs stripes were immersed in sealed solutions with different volume ratios of PFDT and ethanol for 12 h. Then, the obtained CFP@PDA@AuNPs stripes were rinsed three times with ethanol and dried at 40 • C to obtain the hydrophobic CFP@PDA@AuNPs SERS substrate.…”
