Abstract

Citrus farming in Brazil frequently faces periods of tranquillity as well as of turbulence, without, however, being discontinued. One of the main causes for such turbulence is the incidence of diseases such as Citrus Variegated Chlorosis (CVC), which, despite the great advances in disease know-how, is still responsible for considerable losses in citrus farms.A type of bacteria called Xylella fastidiosa that usually colonizes xylem vessels causes CVC and induces serious disturbances to the development of orange trees.
