Flow boiling of HFE-7100 in a minichannel with local heating

Abstract

Flow boiling of dielectric fluids for cooling of modern electronics is appealing due to low saturation temperatures of such fluids. In the current paper the flow boiling experiments of HFE-7100 dielectric fluid were performed in a locally heated minichannel with height of 1.5 mm and were compared to flow boiling of pure water. A significant decrease in heat transfer performance and critical heat flux is observed for HFE-7100 compared to pure water.
