Fluctuation of quantitative values on acquisition time and the reconstruction conditions in 99mTc-SPECT

Abstract: It is necessary that Quantitative SPECT be acquired at 50 s or more per view per detection, reconstructed using a three-dimensional ordered subset expectation maximization with SC+/AC+, the SI product is 150 times, and the Gaussian Filter is 8-12 mm. This suggested that the quantitative analysis would be carried out with good reproducibility.

“…A study by Tsujimoto et al. 40 evaluated the Gaussian post‐filter FWHM (4–12 mm) using NEMA body phantom. According to their findings, image quality improvement was achieved with 8 and 12 mm Gaussian filters on extending acquisition times of 50 s or more per projection angle.…”

“…Acquisition times of 8 and 15 s were associated with CNR > 5 for all sphere sizes (Figure 6), but a post-smoothing filter should be considered to suppress the noise. “…SPECT image reconstruction was performed using Flash 3D [ 8 ] in a reconstruction algorithm. The number of subsets was eight, the number of iterations was 18, and the Gaussian filter was set to 8 mm [ 9 ]. Low-dose CT scans of the head and neck regions were performed as follows: tube voltage of 130 kV, tube current of 50 mAs, and matrix size of 512 × 512.…”

“…oestrogen), and unknown rates of uptake and clearance from the blood, amongst other factors. The system resolution, acquisition time, and reconstruction conditions, such as the number of iterations and subsets applied for an iterative reconstruction algorithm like ordered-subset expectation maximisation (OSEM), image filtering, scatter correction, and the method and parameters of attenuation correction, can also influence results (Chicco et al 2015 ; Tsujimoto et al 2018 ).…”
