Abstract:Doppler flow analysis of the pulmonary veins with transesophageal echocardiography is very useful during cardiac surgery. It can be performed in most patients due to the proximity of the probe to the left atrium. It is data that allows us to evaluate the filling of the left heart and evaluate the impact of mitral disease. In this review we analyze the formation of Doppler waves and highlight the importance of their analysis during cardiac surgery.
