“…Reaction conditions for post-column derivatization were studied by Kubo et al (1986), who reported maximum sensitivity for DST at a reagent concentration of 0.5 M NaOH, a reaction temperature of 65°C and a reaction coil length of 15 m. A temperature of 70°C and a reaction coil length of 10 m were chosen in the present work because they produced a better signal-to-noise ratio for the analysis of sample extracts.
