Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Ophthalmoscopy (FLIO) in Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel) Patients with and without Diabetes

Abstract: Supplemental Digital Content is Available in the Text.Patients with MacTel have a high prevalence of diabetes, yet they seem to be less affected by diabetic retinopathy. This study did not find any significant FLIO lifetime differences between diabetic and nondiabetic patients with MacTel. This may indicate that patients with MacTel are protected from retinal damage due to diabetes.
