Abstract:Nanodiamonds containing luminescent point defects are widely explored for applications in quantum bio-sensing such as nanoscale magnetometry, thermometry, and electrometry. A key challenge in the development of such applications is a large variation in fluorescence properties observed between particles, even when obtained from the same batch or nominally identical fabrication processes. By theoretically modelling the emission of nitrogen-vacancy colour centres in spherical nanoparticles, we are able to show th… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
