Fluorescent Detection of Carbon Disulfide by a Highly Emissive and Robust Isoreticular Series of Zr-Based Luminescent Metal Organic Frameworks (LMOFs)

Abstract: Carbon disulfide (CS2) is a highly volatile neurotoxic species. It is known to cause atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease and contributes significantly to sulfur-based pollutants. Therefore, effective detection and capture of carbon disulfide represents an important aspect of research efforts for the protection of human and environmental health. In this study, we report the synthesis and characterization of two strongly luminescent and robust isoreticular metal organic frameworks (MOFs) Zr6(µ3-O)4(OH)8(… Show more

“…Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been extensively studied for gas storage, separation, capture of hazardous chemical species, catalysis, , conductivity, luminescence sensing, and lighting applications because of their permanent porosity and ease of tunability with regards to their pore shape, size, and chemistry . The facile functionalization of MOFs makes them versatile and attractive materials for numerous applications.…”

“…1,1,2,2-tetra(4carboxylbiphenyl)ethylene (H 4 TCBPE), a derivative of TPE, has been employed as a rigid organic ligand to construct luminescent MOFs. To date, some luminescent MOFs based on H 4 TCBPE have been reported, including Zr 6 (μ 3 -O) 4 (OH) 8 (tcbpe) 2 (H 2 O) 4 , 47 Zr-MOFs (PCN-94 and PCN-128W), 48 (DMA)[In (TCBPE)](solv), 49 and so on. However, the sensing ability of these TCBPE-MOFs has rarely been explored.…”

“…Due to their toxicity and reactivity, expensive safety measures are required to handle, store, and transport these gases safely, thereby placing their usage in synthetic chemistry under strict regulations [7] . Herein, we probed metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs), [8–33] specifically their reversible gas adsorption and catalytic activity, to carry out chemical reactions in organic solvents. Thus, we explored the dual role of MOFs as a catalyst and carrier of reagents on the example of reactive gases.…”
