“…During our comprehensive studies on the fluorinated polymers possessing a surface active characteristic, we have already found that partially fluoroalkylated polymers, especially two fluoroalkyl end‐capped oligomers are attractive fluorinated materials because they exhibit a wide variety of unique properties such as high solubility, surface‐active properties, biological activities and nanometer size‐controlled self‐assembled molecular aggregates, which cannot be achieved by the corresponding nonfluorinated and randomly fluoroalkylated ones . In these fluoroalkyl end‐capped oligomers, fluoroalkyl end‐capped trimethoxyvinylsilane oligomers are in particular interest due to them exhibiting higher surface active characteristics . Here we report that fluoroalkyl end‐capped trimethoxyvinylsilane oligomer/silica nanocomposites, which are prepared by the sol–gel reactions of the corresponding oligomer under alkaline conditions, can be applied to the encapsulation of organic stabilizers such as 1,1′‐bi(2‐naphthol) [BINOL] and 2‐hydroxy‐4‐methoxy benzophenone [HMB], and encapsulated BINOL and HMB into these fluorinated nanocomposite matrices can exhibit an excellent UV resistance with an extremely higher thermal stability.…”
