Fluorogenic Detection of Human Serum Albumin Using Curcumin-Capped Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles

Abstract: Mesoporous silica nanoparticles loaded with rhodamine B and capped with curcumin are used for the selective and sensitive fluorogenic detection of human serum albumin (HSA). The sensing mesoporous silica nanoparticles are loaded with rhodamine B, decorated with aminopropyl moieties and capped with curcumin. The nanoparticles selectively release the rhodamine B cargo in the presence of HSA. A limit of detection for HSA of 0.1 mg/mL in PBS (pH 7.4)-acetonitrile 95:5 v/v was found, and the sensing nanoparticles w… Show more

“…To obtain the S1 nanomaterial, ordered mesoporous nanoparticles were prepared through known procedures using n-cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTABr) as a template and tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as a silicon precursor [ 37 ]. After removing the surfactant through calcination, the empty pores were loaded with linezolid and the external surface was functionalized using n-[(3-trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylene diamine triacetic acid trisodium salt to obtain a negatively charged surface.…”

“…The solvent was a 1:9 mixture of ACN and distilled water solution [ 18 ] and was used in every experiment as a solvent. The synthesis of 3-hydroxymethyl-1-oxyl-4-(pyren-1-yl)-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-2,5-dihydro-1 H -pyrrole radical and tetrakis(3,5-dicarboxylatophenoxy)-cavitand was carried out in our institute according to published methods [ 12 , 13 ], and their 1 H NMR scan was taken.…”
