Abstract: A broca da cana-de-açúcar, Diatraea saccharalis (Fabricius, 1794), (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), é a principal praga da cana-de-açúcar no Brasil. Show more

“…Diatraea saccharalis was quite abundant, and the increase in caterpillar population followed plant growth (internode number) of the crop throughout the season. This was reported also in sugar cane grown in the state of Piauí, in northeastern Brazil; however, those authors assessed adults cap-tured by light traps, and sugarcane borer adults were present throughout the developmental period of plants (Portela et al 2010).…”

“…It is important to point out that research with a population fluctuation of a pest and its relation with climatic factors present different results from one region to another, that is, the factor that presents a significant correlation in one region may not be relevant in another region, showing that the fluctuation population is specific to each site evaluated (PORTELA et al, 2010).…”

“…An important factor in a region may not play the same role in another one. Thus, the pest population dynamic is specific of the crop growing place (PORTELA et al, 2010). Table 2 shows the final index of borer infestation.…”
