Flying display

Abstract: We developed Flying Display, a novel movable public display system which can provide information to the people anywhere at anytime. This system consists of two UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) with a projector and a screen. Flying Display achieves moving freely and keeping stable in 3-D space. Flying Display moves closer to people and gives information directly to them. To evaluate performance of Flying Display, we performed two experiments for adapting a flying control algorithm. We also showed the stability o… Show more

“…For example, chained displays, have been proposed as a combination of several screens to create different form factors for interactive public displays [23]. At the same time, more provocative types arise such for example free-standing displays [24][25][26][27], personal displays [28], mobile devices [29][30][31], interactive shopping displays [32][33][34], and even battery-free patched wearable displays for opportunistic interactions [35]. Recently, more exotic forms of information displays are under research to support the full-color holographic presentation of visual information [36,37].…”

“…In order to reduce the problems of a projected image caused by relative movement of a projection system and its projection surface, several methods have been studied so far such as adjusting relative positional relationship of a projector and a screen, or changing the shape and size of an input image. For example, the scheme [5] keeps monitoring positional relationship between a projector and a screen and adjusts the distance to screen and viewing direction of a projector for stabilizing the projected image where a projector and a screen are attached to movable devices. However, it has an issue in real-time correction if the range of the movement of devices is limited or if each device cannot be controlled simultaneously.…”
