Focused direct corrective feedback: Effects on the elementary English learners’ written syntactic complexity

The participants were 60 Iranian elementary EFL learners, whose L2 proficiency as well as L2 writing syntactic complexity and accuracy were controlled by administering the Oxford Quick Placement Test and a paragraph writing test. “…Students will understand better if provided with specific and clear errors, especially those new to English and slow learners (Ajmi, 2015). In other studies, the use of focused-unfocused WCF occupies the highest place as a student preference when receiving WCF from teachers because it can facilitate the process of correcting and justifying L2 students (Valizadeh & Soltanpour, 2020). Overall, each type of WCF has its benefits according to environmental conditions, background knowledge, and other moderate variables.…”

“…Semi-structured interview form was used to indicate clearly whether the questionnaire was perceived the same as English teachers" beliefs when they had given oral corrective feedback treatment and to avoid a reliance on observable data alone (Ogeyik, 2018). English teachers were gradually trained and provided with oral corrective feedback before the class started by explaining the advantages of oral corrective feedback by sending books and documents through WhatsApp group since it was the responsibility of English lecturers to inform the research aims and method, and guaranteed confidentiality, procedure, and the right to withdraw the conclusion at any stage since only English teachers noticed students" errors and delivered the correct forms, in line with ethical principles (Valizadeh & Soltanpour, 2021). The close-ended questionnaire was developed by the writers based on the synthesis of the literature to investigate English teachers" beliefs about oral corrective feedback.…”

“…Natural gas, oil, and charcoal have typically been seen as the main drivers of economic growth (Orwig, 2021;Skare & Soriano, 2021;Suhartono, 2021;Valizadeh & Soltanpour, 2021;Zafar et al, 2019), as they facilitate transportation, run factories, and generate electricity (Waheed et al, 2019). Energy demand quickly rises as countries develop and raise the living conditions of their people (Al-Jundi, Shuhaiber & Al-Emara, 2022; Atance et al, 2024;Saud & Chen, 2018;Vo & Ngo, 2021;Wahhab et al, 2021;Wynn, 2021;Yoshimura et al, 2021;Yuliana et al, 2021).…”
