Forecasting of excavation problems for high-rise building in Vietnam using planet optimization algorithm

Abstract: In this paper, a new method in forecasting the horizontal displacement of diaphragm wall (D.W.) for high-rise buildings is introduced. A new stochastic optimizer, called Planet Optimization Algorithm (P.O.A.), is employed to assess how proper finite element (F.E.) simulation is against field data. The process is adopted for a real phased excavation measured at the field. To automatically run the iterative optimization tasks, a source code is constructed directly in the Geotechnical Engineering Software (PLAXIS… Show more

“…While the algorithms we used utilized well-known single and double-order optimizers such as the ADAM optimizer, future work could include recent, alternate optimization techniques. Some such optimization techniques include the planet optimization algorithm 41 , which uses an optimizer based on stochastic decisions and surrounding exploration, the Runga Kutta method-based RUN optimization 42 , which effectively implements and balances the exploration and exploitation in the search phase and the Hunger Games search 43 , which designs and employs an adaptive weight based on the concept of hunger on each search step.…”

“…For soft soil, the ratio is ordinarily in the range [170, 500], while it is in the range [500, 700] for stiff clay. [83][84][85][86][87][88] To cover all possible scenarios, the search space can be extended and modified. For sand, the stiffness parameter (E') is calculated using the results of the Standard Penetration Test (N spt ).…”

“…Much concentrated effort to back analyze the ratio of the stiffness and undrained shear strength was made by researchers. For soft soil, the ratio is ordinarily in the range [170, 500], while it is in the range [500, 700] for stiff clay 83–88 . To cover all possible scenarios, the search space can be extended and modified.…”

“…Among the prediction models proposed by scholars, the grey model and BP neural network model prediction methods are most widely used to predict surface subsidence in underground mining areas [6][7][8] . In 1982, Professor Deng Julong, a Chinese scholar, proposed the grey system theory integrating automatic control and operations research, aiming at the in-depth exploration of grey problems.…”
