Foreword

Abstract

It is a great pleasure to present to you Lexicography 2.1. The special theme of this edition is ''Teaching dictionary use.'' The importance of teaching dictionary use has been widely acknowledged by researchers and educators and in itself is not a controversial issue. However, it appears that dictionary use instruction has not been integrated into the general language curricula in a visible way. This said, literature suggests that dictionary use instruction has been provided by language teachers, to a greater or lesser extent, and in a variety of pedagogical contexts. The effect has been augmented by the production of various materials, published and unpublished. Thus, the purpose of this issue is to bring together scattered information and hidden practices related to the dictionary use teaching with a view to enhancing the visibility of what has been accomplished already in this field and to suggesting avenues for further improvement.The editorial board envisaged and included the following as possible topics in the call for papers:
