Broadening perspectives on regional quarry-related studies

“…Over 98% of the Paleoindian assemblage from the Shoop site is Onondaga chert linking Western New York source areas, nearly 350 km distant, with this central Pennsylvania locality ( Carr et al., 2013: 77, 88, Figure 4.1; cf. Fogelman and Lantz, 2006: 241–252 ). A variety of other, equally serviceable lithics can be found in the intervening area suggesting, among other things, the importance of non-functional aspects of certain materials to Paleoindian artisans.…”
