Formal Modeling and Verification of Operational Flight Program in a Small-Scale Unmanned Helicopter

Abstract: Formal verification has played an important role in demonstrating correctness of safety-critical systems. Small-scale unmanned helicopters have been increasingly developed for various purposes such as scientific exploration and commercial or defense applications. The HELISCOPE project in Korea aims to develop a small-scale unmanned helicopter and its onboard embedded computing system for flight control and real-time transmission of multimedia data. This paper shares the authors' experience on the formal verifi… Show more

“…Several controllers have considered the uncertainty and disturbances which are important aspects that affect aircraft stability and performance. However, s.veres@sheffield.ac.uk maintaining attitude stability is still a major control problem due to the aerodynamic mechanism nonlinearity [1]. Previous works on helicopter UAVs control and verification have been reviewed and several are presented.…”

“…So it is convenient for working personnel to make task analysis and modifications [5]. Controllogix and sensor data processing as well as communication and the control from ground control system (GCS) [6] are managed with an onboard computing system with the rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicles; the ground monitoring system has become a hotspot of current research. It mainly uses the data collected by PC to establish an air monitoring station which can realize a real-time monitoring interface corresponding to UAV and ground.…”
