Abstract:The molecular structures of chloride salts of 2-and 5-substituted derivatives of 8-hydroxyquinoline, Me-H 2 Q + ·Cl -([C 10 H 10 NO]Cl) and Cl-H 2 Q + ·Cl -([C 9 H 7 ClNO] + ·Cl -), were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods; the latter is a new polymorph. In the crystal structures of these salts, several intra-and inter-molecular interactions result in a step-shaped centrosymmetric 4 4 ( 8) R ring. Unlike most quinolinium salts, there was no solvent present in these structures. Protonation of… Show more
“…The crystal structure of water-free 8-hydroxy-2methylquinolinium chloride has been determined previously [6] as have its dihydrogen phosphate salt, isolated as a monohydrate [7], and 2-chloro-5-nitro-benzoate salt, as a dihydrate [8]. Further, there are examples of the monocation being the counterion to metal complex anions [9].…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
