Formation of the Majiayao gold deposit, Jiaodong Peninsula, eastern China: Constraints from fluid inclusions, H–O–S–Pb isotopes, and pyrite Rb–Sr age

Abstract: The Majiayao gold deposit at Qixia in Shandong Province is a typical gold deposit of medium–low temperature hydrothermal veins. This gold deposit is one of the most important types in the Jiaodong Peninsula. Four stages have been identified based on the cross‐cutting relationships and mineralogical and textural characteristics. The study of quartz vein fluid inclusions show that the inclusions can be divided into three categories: pure liquid or pure gas phase inclusions (type S), two‐phase gas and liquid incl… Show more

“…The measured Pb isotopic ratio measurements for the international standard NBS 981 are around 0.1‰. The analytical values for the standard NBS 981 were as follows: 206 Pb/ 204 Pb = 16.937 ± 0.002 (2σ), 207 Pb/ 204 Pb = 15.457 ± 0.002 (2σ), and 208 Pb/ 204 Pb = 272 36.611 ± 0.004 (2σ) (Tian et al, 2020).…”

“…Gold mineralization of many Jiaodong-type orogenic deposits has a number of features in common, including (1) they typically have an early K-feldspar stage, intermediate quartz-sericite-pyrite and quartz-(siderite)-polymetallic stages as the primary ore-forming periods, and a post-ore quartz-calcite stage [7,10,17,[19][20][21], and (2) gold emplacement with preferential localization in the hanging or footwall of detachment faults [3,5,22,23]. These common characteristics imply that coupling of fluid evolution and structural deformation likely played a critical role in generating the Jiaodong-type gold deposits.…”
