We have studied the clinical, histopathologic and histoehemieal features of pilomatrieoma in a series of 22 eases. In early lesions, basophilie eells constituted the main tumor eell population and underwent four ways of maturation. Caleifieation was observed in 16 eases and ossifieation in two lesions. Melanin pigment was found in seven speeimens and hemosiderin in six. Glyeogen granules were present in most tumor parenehyma and less frequently in the stroma. Mitotie figures were frequent but cellular atypia was not observed.
