Forming of Zeolite/Carbon Composite Substrate Coated with Titania for Photocatalyst Decomposition of Organic Compound

Abstract: Organic contaminated wastes water from petrochemical industries can be removed by adsorbent and photocatalyst. In this work, the degradation rate of phenol have been studied at different ratios of activated carbon/NaA zeolite composite materials coated with TiO2 photocatalyst which are easily to be fabricated into tubular shape by extrusion method. In addition, the foam-inserted composite can be floated on the surface of waste water for the higher phocatalyst activity. While the composite is the low cost adsor… Show more

“…The first batch, activated carbon/zeolite composite substrate was prepared by homogeneously mixing of activated carbon (PA-1, Zenith Science Co., Ltd.), NaA-zeolite (Advera 401PS, PQ Chemicals Thailand Co., Ltd.) and phenolic resin (Neolite KC-3019, Kangnam Chemical Co.‚ Ltd. Korea) with high speed ball mill at 500 rpm for 5 min. The weight ratio of activated carbon (AC):zeolite (Z):phenolic resin (P) was 1AC:1Z:2P, followed the previous report [7]. The second batch, Surat thani ball clay/zeolite composite was prepared by the same method with various weight ratio of Surat thani ball clay (SC):zeolite (Z) as 1SC:1Z, 1SC:2Z and 1SC:3Z, respectively.…”
