FORMULASI LILIN AROMATERAPI BERAROMA MINYAK SEREH WANGI (Cymbopogon nardus L.)

Abstract

Aromatherapy candles are an alternative application of aromatherapy by inhalation, which is produced by vapor from essential oils that are packaged into wax products. The purpose of this study was to determine the best formulation of aroma therapy candles based on panelist acceptance and determine the effect of different percentages of citronella oil on the physical properties of the aromatherapy candles produced. The research method used was experimental research by adding citronella essential oil to aroma therapy candles with formulations of 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, and 10%. Observations from each treatment were analyzed by ANOVA and using the DNMRT further test at the 5% level. The most preferred citronella oil aromatherapy candle based on panelist acceptance is the aroma therapy candle with formulation A with the addition of citronella oil as much as 6%. The difference in citronella oil addition affects the clarity and burn time of the aromatherapy candles produced. The aromatherapy candles that have the longest burning time are the aroma therapy candles, namely the addition of citronella oil as much as 7% and the melting point of aroma therapy candles throughout the treatment in accordance with SNI 0386 -1989 -A / SII 0348 -1980 standards. The clearest aroma therapy candle is the aroma therapy candle with the addition of 6% citronella oil.
