Formulation and Evaluation of Ibuprofen Gastro Retentive Floating Tablets

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to formulate the Ibuprofen, which would remain in upper part of GIT for prolonged period of time. the non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug class that is used for treating pain, fever, and inflammation. systems will have low bulk density so that they can float on the gastric juice in the stomach. Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory drug. Various approaches have been followed to en form. The present work attempts have been made to prepare Ibuprofen by Direct compression method. and error basis formulation design was carried. prepared using HPMC, Xanthan gum, and gas generating agent sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. The tablets were subjected to pre compression parameters such as Angle of repose, bulk d ratio and Carr's index and post compression parameters such as friability, hardness, thickness, drug content, weight variation, in-vitro buoyancy studies and limits.
