Formulation and Evaluation of Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticle Loaded Fast Dissolving Tablet of Tamoxifen

Abstract: Breast cancer is a cancer which has significant societal impact because it generally affects the young age people. Tamoxifen is Biopharmaceutical Classification System class II drug. This active pharmaceutical ingredient have problem with solubility. Most of the anti-cancerous drugs have problem with solubility because of their complicated structures. To deal with this problem mesoporous silica nanoparticles of tamoxifen are prepared. Drug entrapped in mesoporous structure which is having size less than 200 nm… Show more

“…Namely, Rengajaran et al were able to derive that molecules residing in pores less than 10 times their size remains in amorphous forms due to not having the space to form crystals [ 156 ]. This phenomenon has been utilized in the formulation of orodispersable films (prednisolone) [ 157 ], fast dissolving tablets (tamoxifen) [ 158 ], and lyophilized tablets (silymarin) [ 159 , 160 ]. In one in vivo study, spherical mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) were developed by Zhang et al as an oral drug delivery system to enhance the oral bioavailability of the drug telmisartan (TEL).…”

“…Notably, Rengajaran et al deduced that molecules residing in pores less than 10 times their size remain in amorphous forms due to insufficient space for crystallization [106] . Exploiting this phenomenon has led to the formulation of orodispersible films (e.g., prednisolone) [107] , fastdissolving tablets (e.g., tamoxifen) [108] , and lyophilized tablets (e.g., silymarin) [109][110] .…”
