“…In similar experiments incorporating a maximally effective concentration (10-SM) of cholera toxin to test the cAMP and PTH response in six human adenomas at low and high Ca 2+ in 2 h incubations, we again found no stimulatory effect of cholera toxin upon PTH secretion, despite marked stimulation (up to 85-fold) of cAMP levels at 2 h [20]. In contrast, release of corticosteroids from mouse adrenal Y-1 tumor cells (data not shown) and rat [14] adrenal cells did appear to reflect changes in cAMP produced by forskolin and ACTH, thus confirming that the stimulating effects of forskolin upon adenylate cyclase can lead to hormone secretion in other tissues.…”

“…Adenylate cyclase activity in membrane preparations from human parathyroid adenomas was stimulated markedly by forskolin, as has been reported in other tissues [6,14]. Table 1 shows a representative experiment in which a clear-cut dose-response relation between enzyme activity and forskolin occurred, with significant stimulation over basal activity occurring at a 1 ~M concentration (lowest dose tested), and a maximal 13-fold rise occurring when 100 p,M forskolin was used (P < .001).…”

“…In the present study, in order to determine whether procaine has influence on steroidogenesis via cyclic AMP or not, effects of procaine on (Bu)2 cAMP-, forskol.in and Ca2+-induced ste roidogenesis were examined by using of isolated bovine adrenocortical cells. It was reported that forskolin increases intracellular cyclic AMP levels and stimulated steroid pro duction in rat adrenal cells (10) and rat ovarian tissue (11).…”

“…In addition, forskolin elicits physiological responses generally thought to be linked to hormone-elicited elevations of cAMP (Moriwaki et al, 1982;Hersey et al, 1983;Takahashi et al, 1983). It has been demonstrated that forskolin stimulates thyroid adenylate cyclase, cAMP accumulation and thyroid hormone secretion (Fradkin et al, 1982;Van Sande et al, 1983;Totsuka et al, 1983;Laurberg, 1984).…”
