FOS-Like Antigen 1 Expression Was Associated With Survival of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients

Abstract: Background: Early diagnosis and proper management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) improve patient prognosis. Several studies attempted to discover new genes to understand the pathogenesis and identify the prognostic and predictive factors in HCC patients, to improve patient's overall survival (OS) and maintain their physical and social activity. The transcription factor FOS-like antigen 1 (FOSL1) acts as one of the important prognostic factors in different tumors, and its overexpression correlates with tumor… Show more

“…The radiomics approach possesses fundamental strengths, demonstrating the ability to predict specific factors with a high degree of accuracy and serving as a predictive biomarker, all while remaining noninvasive [45]. In contrast to numerous studies focused on biomarkers primarily prognostic in nature [46][47][48], informing patients about their life expectancy, radiomics, as a predictive biomarker, offers crucial insights associated with treatments, thereby directly impacting patients' wellbeing.…”

“…FOSL1 has been found to exhibit high expression levels and demonstrated an oncogene in numerous tumor types including thyroid tumors, gastric cancer (GC) [11], breast cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) [12], head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) [13], nephroblastoma, and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma [10,14]. In a single study, FOSL1 demonstrated tumor suppressor activity in cervical carcinoma [15].…”
