Four 3D Cd(II)-Based Metal Organic Hybrids with Different N,N′-Donor Spacers: Syntheses, Characterizations, and Selective Gas Adsorption Properties

Abstract: Four new metal organic frameworks with bivalent cadmium, disodium succinate (Na2suc), and four different N,N′-donor ligands, i.e., {[Cd(L1)(suc)]·(H2O)3} n (1), {[Cd(L2)(suc)]·(H2O)2} n (2), {[Cd(L3)(suc)]·(H2O)4} n (3), {[Cd3(L4)3(suc)2(H2O)2]·(NO3)2 (H2O)4} n (4) [L1 = 2,5-bis-(4-pyridyl)-3,4-diaza-2,4-hexadiene, L2 = trans 4,4′-azobispyridine, L3 = 2,5-bis-(3-pyridyl)-3,4-diaza-2,4-hexadiene, L4 = 1, 2-bis(4-pyridyl) ethane and suc = succinate dianion] have been synthesized at room temperature and c… Show more

“…In contrast, in 2013, Bhattacharya et al . synthesized a 3D CP, CP3 , {[Cd( L1b )(C 4 H 4 O 4 )]⋅(H 2 O) 4 } n , with Cd(NO 3 ) 2 using this ligand in combination with disodium succinate and in 2015 synthesized another 3D CP, CP2 , {[Cd( L1b )( C 4 H 4 O 4 )(H 2 O)]⋅3(H 2 O)} n with Cd(ClO 4 ) 2 and L1b in combination with disodium succinate (Scheme ). Thus it was important to analyze the structural features of the Cd(II) CPs of L1b and succinate with a focus on the following points:…”

“…[18][19][20][21][22] In contrast to molecular complexes, coordination polymers containing lanthanide ions have been much less studied. [23][24][25][26][27][28] This is surprising in view of the considerable interest in transition metal ioncontaining coordination polymers in general, [29][30][31] and metal-organic frame works (MOFs) in particular. The utility of dicarboxylate ligands in MOFs has also resulted in their use in lanthanide chemistry in the assembly of coordination polymers.…”

“…Considerable progress has also been made in the construction of functional MOFs by using various bipyridyl spacers along with carboxylate ligands [30,31]. The bipyridyl spacers not only pillar the metal-carboxylate motifs into higher dimensionality but also support diverse structural topologies.…”
