Four Directed Search Algorithm: A New Optimization Method and Its Hyper Strategy Investigation

Abstract: This paper promotes a new swarm-based metaheuristic called four directed search algorithm or FDSA. FDSA is designed as a directed search-based metaheuristic without deploying any neighbourhood search. It contains four directed searches that are carried out sequentially. Each search has its reference. These four references are the best member; the resultant of three shuffled members within the swarm; a shuffled member within the swarm; and the resultant of the best member, a shuffled member within the swarm, an… Show more

“…Besides animal behavior, several metaheuristics imitate the social behavior, such as migration algorithm (MA) [19], mother optimization algorithm (MOA) [20], chef-based optimization algorithm (CBOA) [21], driving training-based optimization (DTBO) [22], sewing training-based optimization (STBO) [23], electionbased optimization algorithm (EBOA) [24], and so on. Some swarm-based metaheuristics are free from metaphors, such as total interaction algorithm (TIA) [25], average and subtraction-based optimization (ASBO) [26], attack leave optimization (ALO) [27], four-directed search algorithm (FDSA) [28], golden search optimization (GSO) [29], and so on. Some metaphors promoted the references used in their directed search for their name, such as mixed leaderbased optimization (MLBO) [30], hybrid leaderbased optimization (HLBO) [31], multi leader optimization (MLO) [32], three influential membersbased optimizations (TIMBO) [33], and so on.…”

“…Besides, there are also several scientists active in the development of metaheuristics. Kusuma has introduced several metaheuristics such as attack leave optimization (ALO) [27], total interaction algorithm (TIA) [28], modified social force algorithm (MSFA) [29], four-directed search algorithm (FDSA) [30], and so on. Braik was involved in the development of the chameleon swarm algorithm (CSA) [31], white shark optimizer (WSO) [32], and so on.…”

“…Moreover, as per NLF, many researchers have been motivated to introduce new algorithms. The extended stochastic coati optimiser (ESCO) [26], swarm magnetic optimiser (SMO) [27], walk-spread algorithm (WSA) [28], four directed search algorithms (FDSA) [29], and migrating walrus algorithm (MWA) [30] are recent meta-heuristics for addressing various real-time optimisation problems. The Sparrow search algorithm (SSA) is a recent and efficient algorithm, but it suffers from slow convergence [31].…”
