Four New Acylated Glycosidic Acid Methyl Esters Isolated from the Convolvulin Fraction of Seeds of Quamoclit pennata after Treatment with Indium(III) Chloride in Methanol

Abstract: Four new acylated glycosidic acid methyl esters were isolated after treatment of the crude ether-insoluble resin glycoside (convolvulin) fraction obtained from the seeds of Quamoclit pennata BOJER (Convolvulaceae) with indium(III) chloride in methanol. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data and chemical conversions.

“…Treatment of the crude convolvulin fraction with indium(III) chloride in MeOH afforded nine acylated glycosidic acid methyl esters, named QM-1 ( 99 ), QM-2 ( 100 ), QM-3 ( 101 ), QM-9 ( 102 ), QM-10 ( 103 ), QM-11 ( 104 ), QM-12 ( 105 ), QM-13 ( 106 ), and QM-14 ( 107 ), and five acylated methyl glycosides, named QM-4 ( 108 ), QM-5 ( 109 ), QM-6 ( 110 ), QM-7 ( 111 ), and QM-8 ( 112 ). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data and chemical conversions [4648] (Fig. 8).…”

“…The quamoclinic acids methyl esters were also isolated from Q. pennata and Q. multifida , including QM‐10‐13 ( 240 – 243 ) derived from quamoclinic acid C ( 236 ), 100,101 QM‐14 ( 244 ) derived from quamoclinic acid G ( 238 ), 101 and multifdin VIII ( 245 ) and multifdin IX ( 246 ) derived from quamoclinic acid D ( 237 ) 48 . They all had a quamoclinic acid B ( 3 ) acylated at the C‐2 of Rha unit, except an Mba group for 245 .…”
