FOX: a FOX-inspired optimization algorithm

Abstract: This paper proposes a novel nature-inspired optimization algorithm called the Fox optimizer (FOX) which mimics the foraging behavior of foxes in nature when hunting prey. The algorithm is based on techniques for measuring the distance between the fox and its prey to execute an efficient jump. After presenting the mathematical models and the algorithm of FOX, five classical benchmark functions and CEC2019 benchmark test functions are used to evaluate its performance. The FOX algorithm is also compared against t… Show more

“…The efficacy of the FOX-GWO technique is assessed across 18 datasets in this section. Furthermore, a comparative analysis is conducted between FOX-GWO and five other binary optimization algorithms, namely Artificial Electric Field Algorithm (AEFA) [ 42 ], Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) [ 43 ], Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) [ 44 ], FireFly Algorithm (FFA) [ 45 ], and FOX [ 46 ]. Table 1 shows a description of the eighteen UCI datasets utilized in the experiment.…”

“…The evaluation primarily relies on benchmark test functions and engineering design problems, potentially overlooking the complexities of real-world scenarios. Mohammed and Rashid 2023 [ 26 ] proposed the Fox optimizer (FOX), a novel nature-inspired algorithm mimicking fox foraging behavior. FOX efficiently measures distances to execute jumps for prey capture.…”
