FR-4 Substrate Based Modified Ultawideband Antenna with Gain Enhancement for Wireless Applications

Abstract: A new circular shape patch ultrawideband (UWB) single feed microstrip antenna is described in this paper. The radiated patch of the proposed UWB antenna is embedded with slots to improve the radiation characteristics ensuring a wide impedance bandwidth. In the ground plane, two rectangular rings slots are etched to provide proper impedance matching over a wide frequency range. The proposed single layer UWB with overall dimensions of 55 mm by 56 mm is fabricated using low cost 4.3 relative permittivity FR-4 sub… Show more

“…This antenna achieves 8.1 GHz (2.5 to 10.6 GHz) impedance bandwidth and a gain of 8.4 dBi and 8.2 dBi for each resonant frequency. A redesigned UWB antenna for wireless applications was constructed employing a FR4 substrate with improved gain in [25]. According to the study, the antenna has a peak gain over more than 6.5 dB and impedance bandwidth of 138 percent fractional bandwidth, extending from 2.2 GHz to over 12 GHz.…”
