Frakturen des proximalen Radius im wachstumsalter

Abstract: From 1970 to 1985 in the Orthopedic University Clinic (Oskar-Helene-Heim Berlin) 116 children with fractures of the proximal end of the radius received medical treatment. The frequency of the remaining complications like restriction of movement, differences in elbow axis angle (carrying angle), disturbances of growth or nerve lesions are described. The cause of those complications and the facilities for treatment are discussed in regard to controversy recommendations for therapy in literature. Special referenc… Show more

“…The treatment is often difficult and still controversial. The extent of the initial displacement and, more so, the circulatory disturbances of the proximal end of the radius after surgery are the cause for many complications [1,2,4,6,7].…”

“…Their disadvantage is an interference with the blood supply to the radial head that can lead later to growth disturbances followed by axial malalignment, to partial or total necrosis of the radial head, and to periarticular ossifications [1,2,4,6,7]. These complications can be avoided with a closed reduction, as long as no wire is inserted into the fracture gap to obtain a proper reduction.…”
