“…As regards foreign language teaching, which is the focus of this article, few studies have investigated the pedagogical potential of frame semantics. These point out benefits in terms of increasing and retaining vocabulary (Esbrí‐Blasco, 2014; Xu & Li, 2011), teaching (besides vocabulary) grammar and metaphors (Jódar‐Sánchez, 2019), raising learners' awareness of cross‐linguistic differences in meaning and grammar (Boas & Dux, 2013), and increasing learners' cultural awareness (VanNoy, 2017).
