With the advent of pandemic and when nations have sealed most of their boundaries, conscious consumerism in food has taken great strides. Humans can no longer be oblivious to what they eat or drink. In the age of increased competition for resource availability, age old traditional organic food farming and consumption have become facile and the need of the hour. The review attempts to showcase how organic farming prevailed during the vedic time prioritizing the concept of environmental balance. Furthermore, the 2030 agenda for sustainable development adopted shared a roadmap wherein eco-friendly practices have gained greater importance in order to make our planet a better place. Consumers have become conscious about their purchases. In addition, newer technologies such as blockchain, IoT, robots, and cloud computing all have contributed significantly to satisfy farmer and consumer needs at various levels.
