Freudian slips reloaded: From psychodynamics to cultural analysis

Only chance and circumstances? Or, how Freudian are Freudian slips? A review of research literature concerning parapraxes.

Freudian slips not only hold a treasure for clinical psychoanalytic work (Poscheschnik & Crepaldi, 2021) and open up opportunities for psychoanalytic education, self-analysis, and cultural analysis (Crepaldi & Poscheschnik, 2021); despite their spontaneous and unpredictable occurrence, parapraxes are also well suited to the empirical testing of basic psychoanalytic assumptions. We recommend that the discussion of these fascinating phenomena should be revitalized because many questions remain open.…”
