Abstract:The conventional neutrino transport theory for core-collapse supernovae does not take into account the fact that neutrinos are left-handed. We argue that neutrino matter in supernovae is topological due to the chirality of neutrinos. This topological nature modifies the hydrodynamic behavior at the macroscopic scale, and, in particular, leads to a tendency toward the inverse energy cascade, which may be relevant to the origin of the supernova explosion.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
