From Chirality of Neutrinos to Supernovae

Abstract: The conventional neutrino transport theory for core-collapse supernovae does not take into account the fact that neutrinos are left-handed. We argue that neutrino matter in supernovae is topological due to the chirality of neutrinos. This topological nature modifies the hydrodynamic behavior at the macroscopic scale, and, in particular, leads to a tendency toward the inverse energy cascade, which may be relevant to the origin of the supernova explosion.
