Thisarticleexaminestheuseoftheonlinepublicaccesscatalogue(OPAC)amongundergraduates inselecteduniversitiesinNigeria.Asamplewasdrawnfromamongundergraduatestudentsinfive selectedUniversities.Surveydesignwasadoptedintheconductofthestudywhiledatawascollected throughaself-designed/administeredquestionnaire.Atotalof2,240undergraduateswereinitially sampledandadministeredthequestionnaire,butonlytwothousandcopieswereproperlyfilledin andgoodfordataanalysisrepresentingan89.3%returnrate.This2000representthesampleforthe study.TheresultsrevealedthatthemajorityofundergraduatestudentsusedtheOPAConaweekly basiswhilethemajorityofrespondents(57.5%)spentfewerhours(between0-3)usingtheOPAC. PlacesofaccessingtheOPACidentifiedincludetheschoollibrary,respondents'homes,cybercafés andlecturerooms.ThemajorusesoftheOPACbytheundergraduatestudentsinclude:tolocate booksandothermaterials;andtofindnon-printmaterials.
