Abstract:Locked-in syndrome (LIS) is a severe neurological condition characterised by tetraplegia and anarthria, with preserved consciousness and vertical eye movements. It often results from bilateral pontine infarctions, which sometimes demonstrate a characteristic ‘heart appearance’ sign on MRI.
