From  “pueblo  pobre”  to  “pueblo  indígena”.  Pastoral  Aborigen  and   anthropological knowledge in the Chaco region in Argentina (1970-1985)

El artículo presenta una indagación sobre las relaciones entre los procesos de misionalización cristiana, las narrativas humanitarias y las asociaciones desarrollistas en el Chaco indígena argentino. El argumento central del estudio afirma que estas construcciones discursivas configuraron nuevos imaginarios sociales que dinamizaron las relaciones entre misiones religiosas, proyectos de desarrollo comunitario y procesos políticos indígenas. Con el interés de establecer un diálogo conceptual y empírico entre la antropología del cristianismo y el espacio temático sobre “religión y desarrollo”, el estudio se organiza en tres partes: 1) una reflexión crítica sobre cristianismo, modernidad y desarrollo como categorías sociales e históricas ; 2) una discusión empírica sobre las articulaciones históricas entre proyectos de misionalización, trabajo social, prácticas higienistas e ideologías humanitarias en comunidades toba/qom y wichí del territorio chaqueño; 3) un análisis sobre las organizaciones ecuménicas católicas y protestantes que trabajaron en el territorio chaqueño desde la década de 1970 y dieron forma a un particular 'indigenismo basado en la fe'.
