“…It has been notified that endogenous ethylene was one of the important factors regulating the development of red colour and accumulation of anthocyanin in apples (Blankenship and Unrath, 1988;Whale and Singh, 2007). A disadvantage of inhibiting ethylene synthesis by AVG was reported as a delay in red colour development of apples (Greene, 2005;Argenta et al, 2006;Fallahi, 2007;Whale et al, 2008). The retarding impacts of AVG treatments on colour development values were also observed in the present study.…”

“…Colour analysis was performed on each of the five commercial wakame samples and two New Zealand processed wakame (August and October samples from Farm 327) according to Whale, Singh, Behboudian, Janes, and Dhaliwal (2008) using a HunterLab ColorFlex machine. Each product was sampled three times and their means were compared using One-way ANOVA in Minitab 16.1.0 with Tukey's post hoc significance tests where p < 0.05 (a = 0.05) indicates a significant difference between means.…”

“…24 days before harvest) also induced a similar increase in exocarp color (?27%) but reduced fruit firmness by 19%, compared to the control. Again, ethephon is associated with advancing maturity by increasing color and softening fruit as in apple (Whale et al 2008) and blueberry (Vaccinium ashei, cv. rabbiteye) (Ban et al 2007).…”
