Fruit Set and Quality of 'Canino' Apricot Fruits as Affected by Spraying With Yeast, Growth Regulators and Micronutrients

Abstract: This experiment was carried out during 2014 and 2015 seasons on 'Canino' apricot trees grown in sandy soil under drip irrigation system in a private farm at El-Bostan region in Behera governorate, Egypt to study the effect of foliar spraying with Yeast (0.1 and 0.2%), Benzyladenine (50 and 100 ppm), GA3 (50 and 100 ppm), Boric acid (25 and 50 ppm) and flower power (2 and 4%) at full bloom stage on fruit set and fruit quality. Results showed that spraying 'Canino' trees with BA at 100 ppm followed by Boric acid… Show more

“…Effects of application of plant hormone cytokinin on fruit weight and volume were also widely studied with less consistent results obtained by different authors. Apricot fruit weight and diameter were increased by 100 and 150 ppm BA treatments (Canli et al, 2014), but 50 ppm BA concentration did not have an effect (Abdel-Mohsen & Kamel, 2015). The dependence of applied concen-trations of BA is also similar to the behavior of applied NAs in our experiment.…”

“…Due to lower cell volumes and much concentrated cell sap, smaller fruits from the control treatments in this study may have had adequate levels of sugars in their cells which was comparable to the sugar levels in the chemically treated fruit cells. Increase in fruit TSS with an application of BA and GA 3 have also been reported by Moradinezhad et al (2019), Ganai et al (2018), Ferdosi and Farooq (2017), Shaban et al (2017), Adbel-Mohsen andKamel (2015), and Sharma (2011). The important role of BA and GA in translocation of photosynthate in fruit trees have been reported by Han et.al (2008) and Zhang et al (2007), respectively.…”

“…Application of PGRs was extensively investigated in production of diverse fruits including apricot. Experiments involving application of PGRs on apricots fruit quality at harvest are abundantly presented in academic literature regarding application of auxin [Son 2004, Stern et al 2007, Taghipour et al 2011, Devrari et al 2017, Roussos et al 2021, gibberellin [Abdel-Mohsen andKamel 2015, Devrari et al 2017] and cytokinin [Canli et al 2014, Abdel-Mohsen and Kamel 2015, Roussos et al 2021]. However, studies regrading postharvest behavior of treated fruit after PGRs application are quite scarce.…”
