FSHR (exon 10) gene polymorphisms and its association with fertility trait in Egyptian Ossimi sheep

Abstract: For the association between of Follicle stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) gene (partial part of exon 10) polymorphisms and litter size trait in Egyptian Ossimi sheep, polymerase chain reaction-single stranded conformational polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) and DNA sequencing techniques were developed. Fifty female Ossimi sheep reared under Egyptian conditions were selected according to their litter size. DNA from blood samples of these animals was isolated to amplify 250-bp of the FSHR gene influencing litter size pr… Show more

“…In Chinese sheep, SNPs detected in the 5′ regulatory region of the FSHR gene were associated with litter size (Chu et al, 2012 ; Guo et al, 2013 ). Similar findings were reported in other breeds (Pan et al, 2014 ; Abdel-Rahman et al, 2019 ). Also, FSHR polymorphisms were found to have a significant effect on the total born number and the number of born alive in Erhualian and Yorkshire sows (Shujun et al, 2002 ).…”

“…So far, a large number of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) have been detected in the FSHR gene, which is associated with reproductive traits (Siddiki et al, 2020) such as superovulation response in cows (Yang et al, 2010), as well as litter size in sheep (Chu et al, 2012;Salah et al, 2019) and goat (Guo et al, 2013;Hatif et al, 2017;Shinde et al, 2019;Zi et al, 2020). So, the objective of this study was to discover and identify the effect of SNP of FSHR gene on prolific traits in Kejobong and Etawah grade doe.…”
