“…Structural defects in the conjugated backbone of polyfuran can be revealed by IR spectroscopy. 32 Previously reported polyfurans showed defects, such as ring-opening and β-coupling, which were observed by stretching vibrational modes of the aliphatic C–H bond (∼2900 cm –1 ), carbonyl C O bond (∼1720 cm –1 ), and O–H bond (∼3500 cm –1 ). 10b , 11a – c The measured ATR-FTIR spectra of P1 and P3 films on Pt-foil ( Fig.…”

“…FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy verifies that the polymer chain obtained is mainly conjugated, as is the PFu film synthesized by electrochemical reduction of 2,5-dibromofuran using Ni(bipy) 3 2+ as catalyst, 5 and much better than the PFu film electropolymerized in acetonitrile at 2.1-2.3V vs SCE using NaClO 4 as the electrolyte. 7,8 The obtained PFu film shows fairly good electrochemical reversibility and stability in organic solvents, while it undergoes irreversible oxidation in aqueous solution. On the other hand, the undoped state of PFu is very stable in air, similar to that of the undoped polythiophene.…”

“…Deconvolution of the transients was carried out to establish the NGM of each deposit using equations derived for the modeling of metal electrodeposits. This method has been described and validated in previous works reported elsewhere by our research group [5,16], and subsequently by other groups [17][18][19].…”
