Full-Duplex Heterogeneous Networks With Decoupled User Association: Rate Analysis and Traffic Scheduling

Abstract: Full-duplex (FD) transmission in a point-to-point (P2P) link, wherein bidirectional traffic flows simultaneously share the same spectrum, has the capability of doubling the link rate by completely removing self-interferences. However, the rate performance of an FD heterogeneous network (HetNet)is not as clear as that of an FD P2P link due to the co-channel interferences induced by complex FD and half-duplex (HD) transmission behaviors in the HetNet. To thoroughly investigate the achievable link rate performanc… Show more

“…and X K (X i ) is the projection of U K (U i ), (b) is obtained by the PGFL of a 2D homogeneous PPP to Φ x , and (c) is obtained by first replacing X K 2 + x with X K 2 z in the integral and replacing X K 2 with D K . Also, the integral in (A.6) can be simplified as shown in the following: by following the derivation techniques in the proof of Proposition 1 in [27] and using the definition of I W (x, y) in (24). Thus, we finally get the result in (23) owing to D K ∼ Gamma(K, πλ).…”

“…A recent work explored the full-duplex HetNet with decoupled access [21] where the authors provided an analysis of the average link rate performance and proposed full-duplex scheduling algorithms to maximize the bidirectional traffic. In [22], the authors formulated the association problem of a full-duplex HetNet with decoupled access as a convex geometric programming problem to maximize sum-rate.…”
