Abstract: Vibriospecies are marine prokaryotes that inhabit diverse ecological niches, colonizing abiotic and biotic surfaces. These bacteria are vital players in the global carbon cycle, assimilating billions of tonnes of chitin for carbon (and nitrogen) metabolites.
