Functions and Targets of miR-335 in Cancer

Abstract: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs (18~25 nt in length) that act as master regulators of eukaryotic gene expression. They might play an oncogenic or tumorsuppressive role in multiple cancers. In recent decades, several studies have focused on the functions and mechanisms of miR-335 in cancer. The expression level of miR-335 in tissues and cells varies with cancer types, and miR-335 has been proposed as a potential biomarker for the prognosis of cancer. Besides, miR-335 may serve as an oncogene or tu… Show more

“…In HCC, miR-335 can influence cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in addition to cell proliferation. miR-335 inhibits ROCK1 expression by binding directly to its untranslated region, resulting in decreased cell proliferation and migration in cancer development ( Ye et al, 2021 ). According to our results, the downregulation of miR-335 observed in HCC group patients increases the ROCK1 expression which facilitates the development and the progression of HCC.…”

“…miR-335 promotes cancer growth by acting as an oncogene ( Fouda et al, 2021 ). In gallbladder cancer, miR-335 suppresses the myocyte enhancer factor-2D (MEF2D) and improves cell proliferation as well as increasing the sensitivity of cancer cells to 5-fluorouracil chemotherapy ( Ye et al, 2021 ). MEF2D is a member of the MEF2 family of transcription factors.…”

“…Previous research has demonstrated that miR-335 is a suppressor of tumor formation, invasion and metastasis, and is responsible for the regulation of apoptosis and thus has prognostic value in HCC ( 30 ). miR-335-3p, sometimes referred to as miR-335*, is generated concurrently with miR-335.…”
